Worked with Garmin tech support and determined unit needed to be returned. With this downside, I would recommend purchase - and from Amazon (lowest price and excolent srevice).
It was great staying on the dash - did not fall off once. To use it as a carrying case is a pain and not very good at hiding on the person.
I puchased this from Amazon (verified) and have only used item for one long trip. I would still buy it.
I used an HP case I had from an old calc. Fits like it was made for the GPS and slips into pocket like case was made for the GPS.
First unit was bad. Amazon had new unit in my hands before I could get first unit to UPS.
my friend bought the same thing at radio shack he paid 43.00 , amazon is a deal on this.
The speaker is in the back of the GPS which is pressed up against the velcro and the mount but it's not stifled and still is clearly audible.I read reviews on here saying that there have been problems with it sliding off the dash; I'm not sure if this would have happened with me or not but just to make sure I bought a $2.00 "sticky pad" beforehand that you put on your dashboard and anything you put on the pad won't move from it.I put the GPS mount on there and it works like a charm. The only con I can think of with this is that it's a bit hard to get the GPS charger plugged in to the bottom of the GPS without some difficulty and making it a bit of a tight squeeze. I've gone through four different GPS mounts now with the problem always being that the suction cup will fall off and the GPS will crash down to the floor while I'm driving. It's still doable though.Lastly, I'm very glad I checked Amazon before buying this at a local store. It was for this reason that I bought this product, since it doesn't have any suction cups involved, and so far I haven't had any trouble with it. The velcro holds the GPS in place just fine so that it doesn't fall down or wobble around. The store (a chain department store) was selling it for $45.00 and thankfully I was able to get it from here instead for only $23. Highly recommended.
I do not think the listing projects the outstanding features of this dash mount/carrying case. The design allows the unit to be on the dash but shields it from bright sun light and make the Garmin very easy to read in the bright sun of the Texas days. The case has been sized correctly to allow the power cord to be stored insideth case during transport from place to place. This mount is a great device for use in my truck to both mount the Garmin GPS during travel but also allows me to move the Garmin very easly between several trucks. It works great on commercial airplane trips both during flight to check that we are going the right way and later in a rental car to get in and out of complex airports.6. 2. It should cover things such as the following:1. 4.
The carring case unit does an excellent job of protecting the Garmin from damage if dropped. 3. 5. The weight of the case is perfect balance between convience and useful in holding the Garmin in place on the dash.Hope this helpsSam Sitler[.].
This dash mount/carry case is very useful, especially when using your GPS during trips to new locations. It allows you to use your GPS in rental vehicles and have a protective case to store it in. Two improvements would be useful, 1) either a bit larger to accomodate the power cord or have an external storage pocket. 2) a belt clip or handle and attachment point for a carry strap.
